Petition In Protest Of H.R. 393
Universal National Service Act of 2007

Petition To Congress In Opposition Of Reinstatement Of
The Draft
And Involuntary Servitude

I am strongly opposed to the reinstatement of a military draft or any other form of mandatory national service. The 13th Amendment strongly prohibits involuntary servitude of American Citizens, and I beseech you as my Representative and as my Senators to vote “Nay” against any Bill that is against the “United States Constitution”.

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

H. R. 393 Sec. 102 states

(a) Obligation for Service- It is the obligation of every citizen of the United States, and every other person residing in the United States, who is between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform a period of national service as prescribed in this title unless exempted under the provisions of this title.
(b) Forms of National Service- The national service obligation under this title shall be performed either–

(1) as a member of an active or reserve component of the uniformed services; or
(2) in a civilian capacity that, as determined by the President, promotes the national defense, including national or community service and service related to homeland security.
(c) Age Limits- A person may be inducted under this title only if the person has attained the age of 18 and has not attained the age of 42.

This is “involuntary servitude” to require citizens of America to either become an active member of the military, or require them to do community service. This hinders citizen’s liberties all across the nation in one of the most horrifying ways imaginable.

Our days of slavery have not existed since the days of the Civil War, and I will not ignore this infringement on the liberties of American Citizens. If this Bill passes, this would be Tyranny of unfathomable proportions.

I am fully aware that my vote helps elect those who represent me, and I fully intend to watch this Bill closely to see how you vote on this issue.

I also call upon you to make your position clear on this issue by speaking out against this Bill. I ask that you do all that is within your power to oppose this Bill and any other legislation that would impose a draft and any other form of mandatory community service or involuntary servitude. You swore an Oath to “Support and Defend the Constitution” and support for this Bill would be a violation of that oath.

A Concerned Citizen
